Dean of the Faculty of Science, Charles University, invites applications for the following academic position:
DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND MICROBIOLOGI
with anticipated starting date of employment on October 15th 2023
- Academic with a focus on virology
(position on boarding: scientific researcher participation on teaching)
Qualifications:
o at least completed Ph.D., Th.D. or CSc. degree or comparable position in abroad
o English, fluent Czech
o good knowledge of data processing methods
Specification:
The responsibilities of this position include the research in the fields of interests of the lab which are: the study of the interactions of DNA viruses and cell components during infection and the study of the innate immune responses to DNA viruses and to mislocated cellular-DNA. Among the methods required for the position, are advanced imaging techniques (e.g. confocal and super-resolution microscopy), RTqPCR, in situ hybridization, tissue culture and propagation and purification of viruses. Furthermore, the position requires teaching of practical courses (in the Czech and/or English) and theoretical courses for Erasmus students (in English), and supervision of Master and/or Bachelor students.
DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY
with anticipated starting date of employment on November 1st 2023
- Academic with a focus on entomology
(position on boarding: assistant professor)
Qualifications:
o at least completed Ph.D., Th.D. or CSc. degree or comparable position in abroad in the field of zoology or in the related field
o English, fluent Czech
